I went to the candidate meeting in Opoho last night; my voting plans haven't really changed significantly, but I did get to tell the Alliance candidate to tone down the volume :-)
One minor amusement: the Act candidate reminds me very much of the character Logan in Veronica Mars. When I mentioned this to my flatmates, they both seemed to agree with me.
The United Future candidate is certainly not a good public speaker, and I don't really recall much of what he said; from what I can tell they're not a party I'd endorse, especially given the way I've heard them described as christian fundamentalists (poorly) disguised as moderates.
I'm told that the meeting had one of the best turnouts of any of the candidate meetings in Dunedin; this is a sign of the sorry state of voter participation in New Zealand.
I'm not sure I like where the Green party is going - they seem to want to raise diesel taxes to the same level as petrol tax, and this seems like it would significantly impact most transport companies. Especially if they don't dump road user charges.

So... is it any good?
